This most populous state of India having as many inhabitants as Brazil, has
recently been bifurcated into two states - the hilly areas (Uttranchal) &
Indo Gangatic plains (Uttar Pradesh).
The Mighty Ganges River - the most sacred river for the Hindus, forms the

The Kumbh Mela at Allahabad (January to March'2001) is held every 12 years
