Mount Kailash :

Mount
Kailash, which is believed to have been originated 30 million years ago is
one of the most revered places in the Himalayas. Cradled in the remote
corner of the Western Tibet in the Himalayas, Mount Kailash is known to be
the abode of Lord Shiva by the Hindus. This most sacred Mountain is also
venerated as the most holy pilgrimage by Buddhist, Jain and Bonpo - the
ancient religion of Tibet.
Legend says, Brahma, the creator, had a mind (Man) for the
creation of a lake (Sarovar), hence its name. Mount Kailash is
22,028 foot rock pyramid and believed to be the throne of the gods and is
esteemed by the devotees as the holy place where the divine takes earthly
form. The devotees believe that a single trip of this sacred place would
erase all their sins of the lifetime.
Mansarovar Lake :
Just besides the Mount Kailash on the Tibetan Plateau is the wide open
mouth of the giant lake - Lake Mansarovar. Lake Mansarovar is a
fifteen-mile-wide circle of dark blue colour which is amongst the most
ancient sacred sites. The water of this lake has varied colours and one is
believed to attain salvation after taking bath in it. The lake with a
circumference of 88-km, depth of 90m and total area of 320-sq-kms freezes in
the winters and melts only in spring.
History :
At a distance of 865 km from Delhi, the Kailash Mansarovar in the Himalayan
region is associated with many myths & legend. The entire place at
Kailash Mansarovar is revered as one of the most esteemed spot on the earth
and the Lake and the Mountain are the crowning jewels studded to this purest
land with magical lights and intense colours, originated in the rarefied
atmosphere. At a height of 15,000 ft, the region is guarded by huge snow
covered mountains with a shimmering lake in front, a soothing breeze blowing
around to revive your soul and an aura that makes one feel the presence of
the Almighty.
